Characterization of the Gymnasium Königin-Olga-Stift

The Gymnasium Königin-Olga-Stift , founded in 1873 by Queen Olga of Württemberg, is a coeducational secondary school in the center of Stuttgart (Germany) which prepares students for the Abitur , the German university entry requirement (the equivalent of the US high school diploma). Since the early 1990s, the school has been a pioneer in the field of bilingual education. Its students receive a German-English education, i.e. subjects are taught in both languages. On top of its bilingual program, the school offers specializations in modern languages (French and Russian) and in the natural sciences. The school is recognized as a ‘partner school for Europe’ and is a member of the MINT association of German schools furthering the study of science and technology-related subjects.
A number of long standing exchange programs and regular intercultural contacts (to the US, the UK, Russia, India, Poland and Switzerland) contribute to its international character.
